Dedicated dentist makes a difference

Jareliese Mauro reveals why patients in Cebu Dental Care have brighter smiles.

Dr. Antonio Alfredo E. Nemenzo, a graduate of Dental Medicine from Cebu Doctor’s College back in 1985, might as well be a role model for doctors who make a professional commitment to moral ideas, patient education and dental care.

“ There are many ways of practicing dentistry. I, for one, am keen on the quality of products that I use on my patients. I abide by international standards and make sure I tell the truth and provide options for my patients,” informs Dr. Nemenzo, baring his perfect set of teeth in a rough calculation of a smile. The difference in his service starts with providing his customers with materials made from his own laboratory, continues to congenial doctor-patient relationships, and tops with his adherence to upgrading dental technology.

“There’s always a bigger room for us to grow as a dentist. If one is good at his own profession, there’s no need to shift courses and go abroad. ‘Dollars’ would come to you instead,” says Dr. Nemenzo while reminiscing his recent meetings with a French man who expressed his gratitude over the doctor’s efforts by bringing in more foreign patients, in need of cosmetic dental work, to his clinic. His favorite comment, by far, is from a UP music professor who wrote a testimony on a sheet of paper: “You are a real artist in your field. You make such a big contribution in making the world smile!” Believing that dentistry is not an exact science, Dr. Nemenzo avers that this practice is instead, “art and science combined.”

The aura of Dr. Nemenzo doesn’t exude I’m-a-big-shot-kind-of-a-doctor, a factor fitting for his occasional philanthropic endeavors such as free checkups, tooth extractions, treatment planning, and even cosmetic dental services. Instead, he radiates a more accommodating approach. This activist for good dental health certainly deserves plaudits for acting upon ideals which are beyond his own self-interest.

Although he relies on word-of-mouth to do the advertisement for him, Dr. Nemenzo’s is currently establishing his own website, cebudentalcare.com, so ‘customers’ are aware of the treatment, technology, and services he and his staff provide.

His devotion spills over not just to his patients but to two of his great love, Ziggy, 12, and Andre, 8, the former of whom he shares his passion with for diving. Dr. Nemenzo takes crisp photographs, from his EOS camera, of his dental cases but outside his work, he points his lens to landscapes, recommending the beaches of Panglao Island and Anda (both in Bohol), and Eden farm in Davao for tasteful shots. When the sky cast a gloomy view, he resorts to another favorite hobby, gun firing.
