The Big Cheese in Desserts

Written by Jareliese Mauro

By line: How a corporation's concentration to exemplary flavors have ante upped Cebuanos' appeal to sweets.

A cheesecake connoisseur with an insatiabale appetite will most probably beat a path to Cheesecake, Etc.'s double glass doors for its most indulgent handcrafted gourmet desserts with a serious melt-in-your-mouth mesmerism . Nestled in a cookie crust, its fluffly-textured cheesecake, with a hint of lemony notes, is crowned with gâteau nuage and various toppings resulting to a marriage of flavor and intricate design. Catering to the Filipino's key trait of being a sweet tooth, Cheezee Tummys, Inc., franchisee of Cheesecake, Etc. in Cebu, tips off Cebuanos to take a bite of dessert celebrities like the baked Belgian, gelatin-based Pistacho, Mango Passion, and Berry Blue cheesecakes. Similarly piquant as its sinful calorie-laden counterpart but contrasting in its shape, the weight-counscious can still have a slice, guilt-free, of hexagon-shaped sugar-free and triangle-formed low-fat cheesecakes.

It's not just the sweet ambroasia in the menu that has been gaining rave reviews but signature dishes and drinks such as Pork Sisig with Egg, Fettuccine in Pesto Sauce, Promeganate Colada and Cappuccino.

The ambiance of Spanish text stenciled on yellow walls, bright lights and plush orange couches with an interlude of soft jazz music playing in the background hint delight and comfort. "We want to create a place where families, kids and friends can all hang-out and where customer service is of utmost importance," co-owner Sharlene Siy Cha croons. Cakes are delivered weekly from the commissary in Manila and still has to undergo decorating and plating by well-trained staff. "We make sure each cake is personalized down to the minute details. Also, we have to live up to the reputation that here in Cheesecake, Etc., we create delicious food. If one can't make up their mind in which flavor to taste, simply order the cheesecake sampler," Sharlene's brother and partner, Adrian Ting, explains further.

Cool flavors, hot sellers. Cheesecake, Etc. gets a perfect 10 on the belt scale. You've been warned.
